Chaturshringi
temple is situated on a hillock near the Senapati Bapat Road. The temple
dates back to the reign of Chatrapati Shivaji and is dedicated to
Goddess Chatshrungee. Goddess Chatshrungee is worshipped in other parts
of India also. However, the names by which She is worshipped differs
from place to place, like Mahakali, Mahalakshmi, Mahasaraswati,

Situated amongst picturesque surroundings, the temple has a very
interesting legend attached to it. It is said that the idol of Goddess
Chatshrungee, now enshrined in the temple, was discovered by a trader.
The goddess appeared in his dream and instructed him to unearth the
idol. One of the major attractions of the Chaturshringi temple of Pune
is the Navratri Festival, organized every year in the month of
October-November. Devotees visit the temple in large numbers to attend
this festival.
